Job summary

University of Utah is seeking a part-time Simulated Participant to portray patients and family members in healthcare simulations and training sessions on campus in Salt Lake City.

You will memorize case scripts, stay in character, and provide feedback from the patient perspective while supporting realistic learning experiences for healthcare learners.

Qualifications

• Experience in medical or healthcare settings.
• Formal training, certification, or experience in areas such as live theatre, dramatic script, acting for film/TV, etc.

Responsibilities

• Arrive on-time and fully prepared for all roles and shifts you accept.
• Memorize a case script detailing specific emotions, behaviors, and disease signs/symptoms.
• Present case information in a standardized manner, as elicited by students during simulated patient encounters
• Remain in character as a specific patient
• Embody roles with fidelity and realism
• Participate in group training
• Maintain confidentiality of information related to cases, student behaviors and feedback evaluations
• Provide educationally constructive verbal feedback from the patient standpoint when prompted
• Ability to be flexible in different medical and educational settings
• Perform additional job-related duties as assigned

Healthcare simulation center Simulated Participants(SP) perform therole of the patient or family members during health caresimulations or clinical skills trainings for learners in theUniversity of Utah's Healthcare education programs. SPs portrayspecific emotions, behaviors and disease symptoms while interactingwith learners during simulated patient encounters. SPs aid inestablishing and maintaining fidelity and realism to eachsimulation. SPs may participate in video productions, supportvoice-over for e-learning courses, photographs and other teachingmaterial as required.

This is an ongoing job opening and we hire intermittently from thisjob posting.

Work Schedule Summary: Variable: based on your availabilityand the needs of the Simulation Centers. You will be offered roles(shifts) that fit your availability. You may be offered a regularlyrecurring role or one-time roles as needed in the SimulationCenters, which you may accept or decline. You are expected to workall shifts you accept.
