Job Summary

Responsible for scale operations at a commercial aggregate pit/quarry, including weighing trucks, assisting customers, monitoring pit functions, and helping to ensure site safety and security.

Main Responsibilities
  • Embrace the Company's safety culture, actively support safety initiatives, and adhere to accountabilities set by the Simon Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
  • Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other policies
  • Ensure safety and environmental regulation compliance (MSHA/OSHA, EPA, etc.), including visitor registration, site-specific training, and other safety procedures
  • Monitor visitor registration and ensure site-specific training and other safety procedures are followed
  • Act as internal/external customer main point-of-contact for pit/quarry operations
  • Communicate with customers in person and by phone regarding product availability and orders
  • Operate scale to weigh trucks for internal and external customers and prepare tickets for drivers
  • Maintain accurate records of materials and quantities entering and leaving the facility
  • Coordinate with the trucking department regarding delivery and haul schedules
  • Enter necessary information into computer systems for inventory, billing, and/or timekeeping purposes
  • Assist with sales and production reporting; maintain related databases/spreadsheets and produce required reports
  • Safely operate company vehicles as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Valid Driver's License and clean driving history preferred
Skills
  • At least one year of experience in an aggregate production operation or similar industry preferred
  • Previous experience with JWS is preferred
  • Proficiency in the use of computers including MS Office programs required
  • Experience compiling and maintaining databases and producing reports using Excel, database, or similar programs preferred
  • Ability to utilize available resources and problem-solve
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with internal staff and external customers, clients, and vendors
Physical Requirements
  • Wears and maintains required PPE to ensure safe performance of job responsibilities
  • Regularly communicates (talk and hear) to support safe coordination and teamwork
  • Requires visual acuity to review information, inspect materials or equipment, and ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Sits for long periods at a desk using a computer to perform administrative tasks
  • Uses hands to handle, write, and use a keyboard and mobile device
  • Works in environments with varying conditions including loud noise, moving equipment, dust, or outdoor settings
  • Occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 35 pounds
  • Flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and overtime; overnight travel may be required
