Job Summary:

Supports milling operations associated with commercial and heavy civil paving projects.

This position requires overnight travel.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Embrace the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams.
  2. Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies.
  3. Safely operate vehicles, tools and equipment, including, but not limited to on-road vehicles, skid steers, loaders, hand and power tools.
  4. Move tools and materials.
  5. Assist with milling and related operations.
  6. Assist with minor equipment maintenance and cleaning.
  7. Unplug and shovel off conveyors and screens.
  8. Change out screens, rollers, cone liners, etc.
  9. Repair conveyor problems.
  10. Grease moving machine parts.
  11. Perform crusher machinery set up and take down including running cables and hoses.
  12. Assemble/disassemble machinery, operating skid steers to move parts, tarping, shoveling aggregate.
  13. Maintain clean and organized working areas.
  14. Work closely with skilled laborers and craft workers to complete projects.
  15. Engage in multiple forms of physical labor necessary for completion of assigned construction projects.
Education:
  1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  2. Valid driver’s license with ability to maintain a clean driving history required.
Skills:
  1. Previous experience in milling, and/or related field preferred.
  2. Experience working in a heavy civil construction environment or similar industry preferred.
  3. Ability to work in a team environment and willingness to take initiative to assist in all areas of a project.
  4. Ability to follow direction, identify hazards, and work safely.
Physical Requirements:
  1. Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by Company safety guidelines.
  2. Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
  3. Regularly required to use hands to move and manipulate objects.
  4. Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear).
  5. Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  6. Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain.
  7. Frequent exposure to loud noise.
  8. Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles.
  9. Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals.
  10. Required to work varying hours, including nights/weekends, and overnight travel may be required.
Compensation and Benefits:

Compensation*: $22-$28/Hr DOE

*Estimated target starting compensation; actual compensation to be determined based on assessment of an individual’s qualifications, education, and experience relevant to the role.

Benefits: All full-time hourly employees are eligible to participate in Simon benefits as defined in plan documents. Other benefits include eight paid holidays, and access to available company discounts.
