Job summary

Shin-Etsu Silicones of America in Akron, OH seeks a Manufacturing Technician to perform multi-skilled tasks in production and processing of silicone rubber compounds in plant areas.

You will measure materials, follow mix instructions, operate equipment safely, maintain a clean workspace, and communicate with the oncoming shift. Requires HS diploma and 3–5 years in production; hazards handling experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 3–5 years' experience in a production environment preferred.
• Experience with hazardous chemicals at a chemical company strongly preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively (verbal and written).
• Ability to work well in a team and pay strong attention to detail.
• Able to wear all required PPE.
• Position operates in an inside manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities

• Measure all raw, in process, and finished materials; record weights neatly and accurately.
• Follow all mix instructions explicitly and sign off on each instruction according to standard procedure.
• Use all production equipment and hand tools in a safe and proper manner; report hazards to the team lead.
• Follow safety procedures: Stop, Call, Wait, and others.
• Maintain a neat, orderly work area; dispose of scrap and waste properly.
• Package out material when batch process is complete.
• Make recommendations for changes to ISO-9000 work procedures as needed.
• Maintain good communication with oncoming shift.
• Utilize maintenance work order system to report repairs or unsafe situations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
