Job summary

Silicon Hills in Austin, TX seeks a dynamic Vice President of Operations to direct PCB fabrication and assembly operations, drive Lean/Six Sigma improvements, and lead cross-functional teams across shifts. You will own production scheduling, quality conformance to IPC standards, and supplier relations while optimizing the plant budget and safety culture.

The role requires deep experience in electronics manufacturing, IPC/ISO standards, and a track record of delivering on-time, high-quality PCB

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or related field required.
• Advanced degree (MBA or MS) a plus.
• 8+ years of progressive manufacturing or operations management experience, with 3+ years in a senior leadership role.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all manufacturing floor operations including PCB fabrication, SMT, assembly, wave solder, and electrical test.
• Develop and manage production scheduling, capacity planning, and workflow to meet on-time delivery commitments.
• Lead, mentor, and develop department managers, supervisors, and production staff across all shifts.
• Foster a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with ESD, FOD, environmental, health, and safety regulations.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma to reduce waste and improve throughput.
• Monitor KPIs including on-time delivery, first-pass yield, scrap rate, and OEE.
• Ensure all production processes adhere to IPC standards (IPC-A-600, IPC-6012, IPC-A-610) and customer quality requirements.
• Partner with Quality team to investigate non-conformances, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Oversee procurement, inventory management, and supplier relationships to ensure materials availability while minimizing excess inventory.
• Own the operations budget including labor, materials, and capex; identify and execute cost reduction opportunities.
• Evaluate and recommend investments in new equipment, technology, and process improvements to support business growth.
• Support NPI and customer program ramp-ups in coordination with Engineering and Sales teams.
• Maintain ISO 9001 and AS9100 certification requirements as applicable.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Vice President of Operations is a senior leadership role reporting directly to the President. This positionis responsible foroverseeing all manufacturing floor operations, production workflow, people management, and general operations of the circuit board manufacturing facility. The VP of Operations ensures the efficient, safe, and high-quality production of printed circuit boards (PCBs) by aligning day-to‑day manufacturing activities with company strategic goals.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee all manufacturing floor operations including PCB fabrication, SMT, assembly, wave solder, and electricaltest.
• Develop and manage production scheduling, capacity planning, and workflow to meet on-time delivery commitments.
• Lead, mentor, and develop department managers, supervisors, and production staff across all shifts.
• Foster a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with all ESD, FOD, environmental, health, and safety regulations.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to reduce waste and improve throughput.
• Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) including on-time delivery, first-pass yield, scrap rate, and OEE.
• Ensure all production processes adhere to IPC standards (IPC-A-600, IPC-6012, IPC-A-610) and customer quality requirements.
• Partner with the Quality team to investigate non-conformances, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Oversee procurement, inventory management, and supplier relationships to ensure materials availability while minimizing excess inventory.
• Own the operations budget including labor, materials, and capital expenditures;identifyand execute cost reduction opportunities.
• Evaluate and recommend investments in new equipment, technology, and process improvements to support business growth.
• Support new product introduction (NPI) and customer program ramp-ups in coordination with Engineering and Sales teams.
• Maintain compliance with ISO 9001 and AS9100 certification requirements as applicable.
• Complete required documentation relating to business, safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe manufacturing environment.
• Perform other tasks and duties asrequired.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or related fieldrequired; advanced degree (MBA or M.S.)a plus.
• 8+ years of progressive manufacturing or operations management experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a senior leadership role.
• Direct experience in PCB fabrication, PCB assembly (PCBA), or electronics manufacturingstronglypreferred.
• Knowledge of IPC industry standards, ISO 9001, and quality management systems; AS9100 experiencea plus.
• Familiarity with PCB manufacturing processes including SMT, wave solder, etching, drilling, plating, and electricaltest.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems and data-driven production management.
• Proventrack recordimplementing Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement programs.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents, engineering drawings, process instructions, and regulatory requirements.
• Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively engage employees, peers, and executive leadership.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities; high attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively across departments and lead through influence.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Experience with ESD control, FOD prevention, and general shop floor safety practices.
