Position: Signals Software Engineer

Location: Annapolis Junction, MD

Security Clearance

TS/SCI with Polygraph required.

Salary

$190,000 - $210,000, depending on experience.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance signal processing software.
  • Work individually or as part of a team.
  • Review and test software components for adherence to design requirements and document test results.
  • Resolve software problem reports.
  • Utilize appropriate software development and design methodologies for the environment.
  • Provide input to software components of system design, including hardware/software trade‑offs, software reuse, and requirements analysis from system level to individual components.
  • Analyze user requirements to derive design and performance requirements.
  • Design and code new software or modify existing software to add new features.
  • Debug existing software and correct defects.
  • Describe various signal processing techniques.
  • Identify various digital modulation techniques.
  • Integrate existing software into new or modified system or operating environments.
  • Recommend improvements for documentation and software development process standards.
  • Develop and implement algorithms to meet system performance and functional standards.
  • Assist with developing and executing test procedures for software components.
  • Write/review software and system documentation.
  • Develop software solutions and confer with user or system engineers.
  • Analyze systems flow, data usage, and work processes.
  • Investigate problem areas.
  • Use scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and consequences of design.
  • Use signal processing algorithms to convert a signal.
  • Design signal processing software based on sparse documentation.
  • Lead one or more software development teams, ensuring work meets constraints of the software development process.
  • Design and implement complex signal processing algorithms requiring strict timing, system resource, or interface constraints.
  • Perform quality control on products.
  • Write software using C++, Java, and other languages as needed.
  • Provide advanced understanding of the Linux operating system.
  • Collaborate with system engineers and software engineers to derive requirements and understand project limitations, capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces.
  • Develop and maintain software framework to enable efficient data processing.
  • Identify the source of problems in a processing system and associated systems in an enterprise architecture.
  • Implement recommendations to improve documentation and software development process standards.
Qualifications
  • Experience with C++, Java, and Linux.
  • Experience with processing systems.
  • Experience integrating Jenkins/Bamboo, Docker, and Kubernetes for automated deployment (preferred).
  • Desired experience with software‑defined radio architecture (e.g., SCA, REDHAWK, GNU), software configuration management tools (Git, ClearQuest, Trac, Subversion), Python, model‑based design (e.g., Matlab, Simulink), service‑oriented architecture, and Linux OS.
  • At least seven (7) years’ experience as a signal software engineer.
  • A bachelor's degree in a related field, or four (4) additional years of experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree for a total of eleven (11) years of experience.
