Hiring Salary Range: $85,500.00 - $112,000.00

Job Summary

The Signals and Communications (S&C) Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for managing installation projects, ensuring that preparation and in-service testing are completed according to CN’s standards. The role involves managing material acquisition, tracking project timelines, interfacing with Signal Design Engineers, testing software, and preparing cutover and testing plans. Additionally, the role collaborates with other department parts on budgets, project estimation, and site evaluation.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Project Planning
  • Prepare scope documents and submit to Signal Design for proposed projects.
  • Participate in site surveys to determine preconstruction work and estimate costs.
  • Work closely with local supervisors, Signal Design personnel, and managers on projects.
  • Identify material, manpower, and design shortfalls.
  • Make corrections to enhance installation efficiency and budget adherence.
  • Manage budgets on construction projects.
  • Develop pretesting and cutover plans for S&C projects.
  • Procedures and Reports
    • Ensure all test procedures are followed and documented.
    • Participate in preparing reports on activation failures and other issues.
    • Stay alert and prepared for unusual conditions or circumstances.
  • Working Conditions
    • The role involves indoor and outdoor work in various weather conditions.
    • Work shifts may vary, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
    • Availability on-call 24/7 for critical incidents is required.
    • Frequent travel (up to 75%) including overnight stays is expected.
    Requirements

    Experience

    • Minimum 5 years in Signals and Communications (S&C).
    • Experience with Systems, Applications, and Products (SAP) is an asset.

    Education/Certification

    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • Two years of college or technical school focusing on Electrical or Electronics Technology.
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering is an asset.
    • Valid Driver’s License.
    • United States Operating Rules (USOR) Certification is an asset.
