Job summary

Onward Education, in partnership with a local school district in McHenry County, Illinois, seeks a Sign Language Interpreter Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year at Nippersink Middle School. The role delivers accessible instruction to deaf and hard-of-hearing students and collaborates with families and the school team to strengthen communication and academic and social-emotional skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized and/or small-group instruction aligned to IEP goals for students who are deaf/hard of hearing.
• Support students’ communication development (may include sign language, oral communication support, and/or total communication approaches as appropriate).
• Help ensure access to instruction through accommodations and modifications, visual supports, and accessible materials.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, special education team members, service providers, and families to support student progress.
• Support use of assistive technology and classroom strategies that reduce communication barriers.
• Participate in team meetings and documentation aligned to district expectations (IEP support, progress monitoring, etc.).
