Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 48 credit hours of college coursework or an Associate's Degree or passing ParaPro/WorkKeys.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and strong communication abilities.
• Demonstrated success in community partnerships and networks.
• Experience working with youth and diverse populations.
• Residency in Boston or willingness to relocate to Boston; U.S. work authorization.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree; Interpreter Training Program; RID certification.

Responsibilities

• Interpret classroom activities, instruction, peer conversations, student contributions, films, and guest speakers into sign language or spoken English.
• Interpret voice to sign and sign to voice.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow professional conduct standards; follow student IEPs.
• Ensure proper setting for viewing with appropriate dress, placement, distance, and lighting.
• Attend meetings with educational team and interpret at events outside the building as needed.
• Interpret/transliterate for staff meetings, professional development, IEPs, and parent–teacher meetings.
• Perform other related duties as requested by the Principal.
