Job summary

Coast Community College District is seeking qualified Professional Experts to provide interpreter services for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students. The role requires proficiency in ASL or Signed English and the ability to interpret non-technical subject matter under supervision.

Responsibilities include facilitating communication in classrooms and campus events, and maintaining required certifications such as ITP, EIPA, RID or NAD. This is a short-term, pool-based opportunity within the district.

Qualifications

• Level I – entry level sign language proficiency required; assists in advancement of skills.
• Level II – intermediate proficiency in ASL or Signed English; understands course content.
• Level III – advanced interpreting and transliterating; handles complex assignments; RID/NAD/EIPA/ITP certifications valued.

Responsibilities

• Provides interpreter services. Interpreters facilitate communication between Deaf, hard-of-hearing, Deaf-Blind, and hearing consumers.
• Interpret assignments may occur in various campus venues and classrooms.
• Ensure accurate interpretation of instructional content and participate in related training and evaluation.
