Job summary

Soliant is seeking an Educational Sign Language Interpreter to provide access to communication for deaf and hard-of-hearing students in classroom settings in Illinois. The interpreter will convert spoken language into sign language and vice versa, supporting students, teachers, and staff throughout instructional activities.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Educational Interpreting or a related field and an EIPA score of 3.5+ in Illinois, with strong communication and collaboration skills

Qualifications

• EIPA certification meeting Illinois state requirements with a score of 3.5+ is required
• Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential

Responsibilities

• Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and school activities using appropriate sign systems (e.g., ASL)
• Support communication between students, teachers, peers, and staff
• Prepare for lessons by reviewing instructional materials and vocabulary
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure access to curriculum
• Maintain confidentiality and professional interpreting standards
• Assist in IEP-related communication as appropriate
