Job summary

Pediatric Developmental Services (PDS) in Winston-Salem, NC is seeking a full-time Sign Language Interpreter to support a student in our educational program. You will interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa to ensure the student can participate in classroom activities, while collaborating with teachers and staff to tailor communication strategies.

• Facilitating Communication: Interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa to ensure the student can fully understand and participate in classroom activities and discussions.
• Supporting Academic Success: Interpret lectures, instructions, and multimedia content to help them engage with the curriculum.
• Encouraging Social Interaction: Facilitate communication between the student and their peers to support social development and inclusion.
• Providing Accessibility: Interpret during extracurricular activities, assemblies, and special events to ensure the student has equal access to all aspects of school life.
• Collaborating with Staff: Work closely with teachers, special education staff, and administrators to adapt and implement strategies tailored to the student's needs.

Sign Language Interpreter Responsibilities:
