Job summary

Ampersand Therapy is hiring a full-time ASL interpreter for a school-based role in Federal Way, WA, for the 2026–2027 school year. In-person position to support deaf or hard-of-hearing students and collaborate with teachers and staff.

Required: EIPA WA requirements or equivalent, WA ESA Certificate (or eligibility), ASL proficiency, and strong interpersonal skills. School-based experience preferred. We offer a supportive therapist-founded culture and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• EIPA score meeting Washington State requirements or equivalent qualification.
• Valid Washington State ESA Certificate or eligibility to obtain one.
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
• School-based interpreting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide sign language interpreting services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing in educational settings.
• Facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, staff, peers, and families as appropriate.
• Interpret classroom instruction, school activities, meetings, and other educational events.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics and standards of practice.
• Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and related service providers to support student success.
• Promote student independence while ensuring equal access to instruction and school activities.
• Participate in team meetings and professional development as appropriate.
