Job summary

Ampersand Therapy LLC is hiring a full-time American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter for a school-based role in Federal Way, WA, for the 2026–2027 school year. You will provide in-person interpreting services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ensuring access to instruction and activities.

The position requires an EIPA score or ESA credentials, strong ASL proficiency, and collaboration with teachers and staff to support student success.

Qualifications

• EIPA score meeting Washington state requirements or equivalent qualification.
• WA ESA Certificate or eligibility to obtain one.
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).

Responsibilities

• Provide sign language interpreting services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing in educational settings.
• Facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, staff, peers, and families as appropriate.
• Interpret classroom instruction, school activities, meetings, and other educational events.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics and standards of practice.
• Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and related service providers to support student success.
• Promote student independence while ensuring equal access to instruction and school activities.
• Participate in team meetings and professional development as appropriate.
