Responsibilities

B Sign Group is hiring a skilled and dependable Sign Fabricator / Welder in New Albany, Indiana. Join the production team at our established, full service sign manufacturing company.

This position turns raw metal into finished sign components and structures. The work includes cutting, fitting, forming, welding, and assembling aluminum and steel parts for a wide variety of custom sign projects.

Our projects include custom shapes, unusual angles, curved forms, structural components, raceways, cabinets, monuments, and unique fabrication challenges. We are looking for someone who enjoys figuring out how to build things.

• Cut, fit, form, and prepare raw metal for fabrication.
• Weld aluminum and steel components.
• Build sign cabinets, raceways, frames, structural supports, monument components, and other custom assemblies.
• Read and interpret production drawings, dimensions, and job specifications.
• Lay out material and determine the best fabrication approach for custom projects.
• Use saws, grinders, drills, welders, and other fabrication equipment safely and accurately.
• Fit and assemble components before final welding.
• Perform finish grinding, cleanup, and preparation as needed before parts move to paint or assembly.
• Check completed work for dimensions, fit, strength, and overall quality.
• Communicate with designers and production staff when drawings or build details need clarification.
• Help identify fabrication challenges before they become production problems.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Assist with general shop fabrication needs as required.

Qualifications

• Welding and metal fabrication experience preferred.
• Ability to read measurements and basic fabrication drawings.
• Comfortable working with aluminum and steel.
• Strong problem solving and mechanical skills.
• Ability to visualize how parts fit together before fabrication begins.

Bonus Skills

• Aluminum MIG or TIG welding experience.
• Experience with custom fabrication or prototype work.

• Experience with bending, rolling, or forming metal.
• Blueprint or technical drawing experience.
• Previous sign industry experience.
• Experience with custom manufacturing where every job is a little different.
