Job summary

UAB Medicine’s 14-bed Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) at UAB St. Vincent's East cares for postoperative and critically ill surgical patients. The team provides continuous monitoring in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

We seek a dedicated RN to provide direct patient care, implement care plans, and coordinate multi-disciplinary efforts with a focus on safe discharge planning and adherence to policies and protocols.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider certification required within 1 month of hire or transfer date.
• ACLS required within 6 months of hire date or transfer date.
• Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed by the Alabama Board of Nursing prior to hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Serve as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with the healthcare team.
