UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL seeks an experienced SICU registered nurse to provide direct patient care in a 14-bed critical care unit. You will implement care plans, coordinate multiple disciplines, and follow physician orders to ensure safe patient journeys.

Responsibilities include discharge planning collaboration, accurate condition reporting, and adherence to policies. This role requires active Alabama RN licensure, BLS and ACLS within stated timelines, and a nursing diploma.

Formación

• BLS Provider required within 30 days of hire date
• ACLS required within 180 days of hire date
• Licensed Registered Nurse in Alabama
• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing

TheSurgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) is a 14-bed critical care unit at UAB St. Vincent’s Birmingham where we care for a variety of critically ill patients, including post-surgical, neurosurgical, and neurological patients, as well as those who need general critical care.

Job Description

Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

• Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education:

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND Required professional licensure at time of hire.
