Shuttle Driver - Part-time 60%

Job Summary

Under direct supervision of Shuttle Supervisors, the Principal Automotive Equipment Operator or Shuttle Driver will operate a variety of passenger shuttle buses throughout the City and County of San Francisco. The primary purpose is to safely transport staff, faculty, and students who travel between campus sites to fulfill work and school obligations. Drivers also support patient transportation to UCSF clinical facilities on regular shuttles or on-demand Jitney service.

Note: This is a 60% part-time role.

The final salary and offer components are subject to UC policy. Salary placement within the range depends on experience and internal equity. For positions represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range is guided by the collective bargaining agreement.

Salary range: $26.07 - $35.05 (Hourly).

Department Description

The Department of Transportation Services at UCSF provides transit, parking, and alternate commuter services affecting faculty, staff, trainees, students, patients, and visitors. We operate shuttle services to support reliable transportation between UCSF campuses and facilities.

Responsibilities

Operate a variety of passenger shuttle buses in the City and County of San Francisco. Safely transport staff, faculty, and students between campus sites and assist patient transportation on regular shuttles or Jitney service as needed.

Required Qualifications
  • One year of experience operating commercial automotive equipment or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Current Commercial Class B Driver's License with Passenger Endorsement, Air Brakes Endorsement, and medical certification
  • Valid California DMV driver’s license with an excellent driving record (no license restrictions other than corrective lenses). Applicants must present a current copy of their DMV record with their application/resume
  • Ability to read, write, and perform arithmetic calculations
  • Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Good oral and written communication skills

Note: Physical/health screening and background check required

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of commercial professional passenger-transport licensing
  • Formal training in a certified defensive driving program (e.g., Smith System)
  • Three years of driving experience
  • Experience driving a commercial passenger vehicle in a large urban setting
License/Certification
  • Current Commercial Class B Driver's License with Passenger Endorsement, Air Brakes Endorsement, and medical certification
  • Valid California DMV license with excellent driving record (no restrictions other than corrective lenses)
