Job description

Position Summary:

A Spotter's responsibilities are as follows: pick-up and delivery of freight, safety and maintenance, possible usage of a forklift to move inventory, and other duties assigned by management. The individual is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of company equipment. The individual is expected to maintain a positive attitude that promotes teamwork within the company and a favorable image of the company.

Schedule: Sunday-Thursday 11:00pm-7:30am

Primary Responsibilities:
•Ensuring that deliveries and pick-ups are made in the most efficient, economical manner possible.
•Deliver product to and pick up product from specified locations.
•Hook and unhook trailers from tractor - cranking lever to raise and lower landing gear
•Maintaining the customer, and company, trailer pool. Reporting, as necessary.
•Coordinating with the warehouse staff for their trailer spotting needs.
•Inspect equipment for defects and operating condition before, during and after trips -complete a thorough pre and post trip.
•Develop and maintain an efficient routing system.
•Maintain clean equipment.
•Professional representation of the company and trucking industry.
•Reporting-Submitting daily trip reports in an accurate and timely manner.
•Ensure BOLs are signed and delivered
•Safety and Maintenance - involves delivering orders safely, following regulations, and safely operation and maintaining equipment.•Observe OHSA, state, and federal safety regulations.
•Follow all company and regulatory agency safety policies.
•Maintain a valid commercial driver's license.
•Report all accidents involving driver and/or equipment immediately upon occurrence.
•Promptly report any delays, breakdowns, weather and/or traffic conditions, or other emergencies to dispatch.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
•Must have a valid CDL driver's license.
•Must have 1 year of tractor trailer driving experience.
•Must have the ability to read, write, and preform simple mathematical calculations with mental ability to handle receipts, road maps, road signs, maintain logs, etc.
•Must have working knowledge of vehicle safety and control systems.
•Individual must have a respectable driving record.
•Must meet or exceed the medical standard of the U.S. Department of Transportation.
•Public Safety and Security- knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, and/or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.

Physical Demands:
The physical demands and/or work environment described here are representative of those that must be met or will be encountered by the employee while performing the essential functions of this job.
•Minor lifting of product.
•Occasional climbing, crouching, kneeling.
•Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
•Must be able to lift/carry 30 pounds

Work Environment:
The working conditions of this position reflect those of a standard warehouse environment to include:
•Working in close proximity to others
•Working with heavy machinery and products
•Moderate to high noise levels
•Tasks may require both indoor and outdoor work assignments
•May be subject to hot and cold temperatures inside the warehouse depending upon outside weather conditions
•Manual labor
