Job summary

A transportation service provider in Seattle, WA is seeking a Shuttle Bus Operator responsible for safely operating shuttle buses and assisting passengers. Duties include performing vehicle inspections, maintaining bus cleanliness, and providing courteous customer service. The ideal candidate must possess a valid CDL Driver's License and be available for varying shifts, including weekends. Applicants should have at least a less than high school education and be able to lift up to 75 pounds. The position is part-time, with shifts available from 3–7:30 p.m. and 1:30–8 p.m.

Job description

Main Responsibilities

Basic Function: Responsible for the proper and safe operation of shuttle buses and transporting passengers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform vehicle inspections, maintain cleanliness of bus interiors, fuel buses, log trip counts and assist disabled passengers.
  • Be at work every scheduled day, on time and in uniform.
  • Present a valid state‑issued driver’s license, carried with the driver, at all times while on duty.
  • Maintain an acceptable DMV record.
  • Assist customers courteously by answering questions and directing them to the Facility Manager if needed.
  • Report any accidents, violations of company policy, safety hazards or unusual occurrences to the Facility Manager.
  • Communicate debris, water, oil spills and other hazards to the garage office.
  • Substitute for cashiers or valets when authorized.
  • Have thorough knowledge of the garage, major streets, landmarks and freeways in the area.
  • Assist customers with luggage and other traveling items, e.g., operating shuttle buses at an airport.
  • Assist the Facility Manager with other duties as needed.
Minimum Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education / Experience Required

Less than high‑school education or one month of related experience, training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

License Requirement

Per DOT regulations, you must have and maintain a valid CDL Class A, B, or C Driver’s License with a Passenger Endorsement if you will be responsible for operating shuttle buses with a passenger capacity of 15 or more.

Availability to Work

Special shift requirements, if any, will vary depending on location’s hiring needs. Availability to work the third shift and/or weekends may be required.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one situations to customers and other employees.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add and subtract two‑digit numbers and multiply and divide with tens and hundreds. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money.

Appearance

Employees must maintain a neat and clean appearance and be in complete uniform at all times.

Additional Information (if applicable): Monday through Friday; Part‑time; 3‑7:30 p and 1:30‑8 shifts available.
