Job summary

FedEx Group in New York, NY seeks a Shuttle/DOT worker to perform shuttle functions using a non-articulated vehicle, loading and unloading aircraft and vehicles, and sorting packages. The role requires training and the ability to operate power tools when needed.

This position is early morning, Monday–Friday, with pay between $22.25 and $32.52 per hour and requires SIDA and CDL/HAZ eligibility; medical exam and drug testing are part of the process.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be licensed for equipment type assigned.
• Able to maneuver packages over 50 lbs with assistance or equipment.
• Must meet FMCSA Section 391 qualifications.
• Able to read and speak English sufficiently for traffic signs and directions.

Responsibilities

• Perform shuttle functions using non-articulated vehicle to load/unload aircraft and vehicles.
• Sort packages as part of duties.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to successfully complete all basic and recurrency training. Must be licensed for type of equipment assigned. Ability to maneuver packages of any weight above 50 lbs. With appropriate equipment and/or assistance from another person. Ability to work with power and hand tools. Must meet qualifications as outlined in section 391 of the federal motor carrier safety regulations. Effectively communicate verbally in a time sensitive manner in noisy operations environment. Must be at least 21 years of age. Ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to understand traffic signs, communicate with traffic safety officials and to respond to official inquiries and directions in accordance with FMCSA enforcement guidance.

Job Conditions

Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. FMCSA covered safety sensitive position. Medical exam required. Subject to regulatory alcohol & drug testing, which includes testing for marijuana, PCP, amphetamines, cocaine & opioids.
