Job summary

Denver Public Schools is seeking an ad-hoc Athletic Transport Assistant to move students to and from athletic events using the school's activity bus/shuttle van. This position is on an as-needed basis and is not the daily bus driver role.

You’ll determine routes, assist students with boarding, and ensure safety and comfort while adhering to traffic laws and district policies. The role also requires vehicle upkeep, participation in DPS training, and maintaining a clean driving record.

Qualifications

  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Multi-Functional School Activity Bus Certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Valid Colorado driver's license and acceptable driving record for the past three years.
  • Lead for racial and educational equity in our community and support all students.
  • Live in Colorado with a permanent home address.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Transports students to athletic events, ensuring timely pickup and drop-off.
  • Determines route for specified activities.
  • Assists passengers with boarding and exiting shuttle.
  • Ensures safety and comfort, adhering to traffic laws and district policies.
  • Maintains vehicle cleanliness and reports issues.
  • Upholds student behavior and enforces safety rules.
  • Completes DPS training and maintains licensure, including a clean driving record.

About This Job

Responsible for safe transport of students to and from athletic events or activities using assigned school's small activity bus/shuttle van. Position is on an ad-hoc or as-need basis.

Note: This is not a bus driver role that transports students daily to and from school.

What You'll Do
  • Transports students to athletic and activity events (e.g. games, tournaments, etc.), picking up and dropping off in a timely manner.
  • Determines route for specified activity.
  • Assists passengers with boarding and exiting shuttle, as needed.
  • Ensures the comfort and safety of passengers while adhering to all traffic laws and district policies related to the transport of students.
  • Maintains cleanliness of vehicle and reports any vehicle related issues.
  • Upholds student behavior using proper procedures for student management issues; enforces rules to ensure student safety.
  • Completes all related DPS training and maintains all licensure requirements, including a clean driving record.
What You’ll Need
  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Multi-Functional School Activity Bus Certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Must have a valid Colorado driver's license, an acceptable driving record for the past three years, and meet the District's insurability requirement.

  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
