Qualifications

  • Valid CDL license with Class B or C as required for vehicle seating.
  • DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate must be valid.
  • 1–3 years of verifiable commercial driving experience with a clean record.
  • MVR clean with no major violations in past 3 years.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist with loading groceries or packages.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English and assist residents.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a shuttle bus or van along a local route following DOT rules and company safety guidelines.
  • Greet residents, assist boarding/deboarding, and manage wheelchair lifts as needed.
  • Follow fixed daily schedule to ensure reliable pick-ups and drop-offs.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report maintenance issues.
  • Keep vehicle interior clean and fueled for next shift.
  • Provide information about schedules and local transit connections; report incidents as required.

Job Summary

We are seeking a safe, reliable, and customer-oriented CDL Shuttle Driver to join our residential community transportation team. You will be responsible for providing comfortable, on-time shuttle services for our residents along a designated local route. The ideal candidate possesses excellent communication skills, a spotless driving record, and a genuine commitment to delivering exceptional resident services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Safe Vehicle Operation: Safely drive a commercial shuttle bus or passenger van along predetermined routes, adhering strictly to all local traffic laws, DOT regulations, and company safety guidelines.
  • Passenger Assistance: Greet residents in a welcoming manner. Safely assist passengers with boarding and deboarding, which may include operating wheelchair lifts and securing mobility devices.
  • Schedule Management: Follow a fixed daily schedule, monitoring traffic and weather conditions to ensure reliable and punctual pick-ups and drop-offs.
  • Vehicle Maintenance & Inspections: Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections (checking brakes, lights, fluid levels, and tires) and submit daily maintenance reports.
  • Cleanliness and Upkeep: Maintain the cleanliness of the shuttle’s interior (sweeping, wiping down surfaces) and ensure the vehicle is fueled and ready for the next shift.
  • Resident Relations: Assist residents with loading and unloading groceries, luggage, or packages, and provide information about shuttle schedules, local area amenities, or transit connections.
  • Incident Reporting: Immediately report any mechanical issues, accidents, or passenger incidents to management and dispatch.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • License Requirements: Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) – typically Class B or C, depending on vehicle seating capacity. A valid Passenger (P) endorsement is strongly preferred.
  • Medical Certification: Must possess a valid, unexpired DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years of verifiable commercial driving experience with a safe driving record.
  • Driving Record: Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) with no major moving violations, DUIs, or at-fault accidents within the past 3 years.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to sit for extended periods, stand, bend, and occasionally lift/carry or push items up to 50 lbs (such as luggage or groceries).
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to provide polite and helpful assistance to a diverse group of residents.
  • Background Check: Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, drug/alcohol screening.
