Job summary

SCHOOL ADJUSTMENT COUNSELOR

Certification required

0.5 FTE

• Provide social emotional support to all students, individually and in small groups, including counseling services identified in IEPs and 504 plans.
• Implement curriculum and support school-wide social emotional learning initiatives.
• Assist with the assessment of students’ social-emotional and behavioral needs and the development of appropriate interventions.
• Participate as a member of IEP and student support teams, including developing and monitoring social emotional goals and interventions.
• Provide crisis intervention or de-escalation support to students, as needed.
• Consult and collaborate with staff and caregivers to support students’ social-emotional, behavioral, and school adjustment needs.
• Collaborate with outside agencies and resources and make referrals as needed.
• Coordinate caregiver programs and supports within the school setting.
• Support student transitions and accommodations to be successful in the school setting.
• Support students and caregivers in promoting regular attendance and engagement with school.
