Responsibilities:
- Prevention of accidents both in the water and on the deck.
- Supervises swimming activities at the aquatics facility and ensures policies, guidelines, and safety procedures are followed.
- Warns swimmers of improper activities or danger and enforces pool regulations and water safety policies.
- Administers first aid in case of injury, rescues swimmers in distress or drowning, and administers CPR and/or artificial respiration if necessary.
- Evaluates safety conditions and initiates aquatics emergency action plan as needed.
Qualifications:
- Current Red Cross Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid certification.
- Knowledge of water safety principles, rescue methods, lifesaving techniques, and first aid.
- Ability to perform all required lifeguard skills physically.
- Alertness to noises and distress signals in the aquatic environment.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, reach, twist, turn, bend, stoop, squat, and crouch during duties.
- Work outdoors in potentially extreme weather conditions.
- Good near and far vision and acute hearing.
Pre-employment Requirements:
- Successful completion of DOJ live scan/fingerprinting.
- Sealed official transcripts or electronic copies from educational institutions.
- Tuberculosis (TB) risk assessment.
- Additional certifications or licenses as required.
