Primary Purpose

North Orange Continuing Education is accepting applications for an online Tutor to work in the High School Diploma Lab at the Anaheim Campus.

Employment Contract and Hours

Up to 38.5 weeks per academic year.

Work Schedule

Monday to Thursday, 9:00 am -1:00 pm & Friday 9:00 am-2:00 pm.

Essential Functions Job Description
  • Provide individual and small group tutoring to North Orange Continuing Education Basic Skills students by integrating study and learning strategies that promote students to be independent learners.
  • Assist students in improving academic achievement by clarifying learning problems and working on study skills.
  • Tutors may assist students by reviewing class material, discussing the text and lecture notes, predicting test questions, formulating ideas, or working on solutions to problems.
Responsibilities
  • Attend a two (2) hour tutor training. The training will involve a program overview and include Learning Center policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to your assigned tutor schedule and be punctual to each shift.
  • Act in a professional manner, and work with a significant degree of independence and good judgment.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Special Requirements

Minimum Qualifications
  • Extensive coursework in English and Math.
  • Proficient communication skills to clearly explain concepts to students.
  • Communicate effectively in a timely manner with supervisor(s).
  • Possession of an AA or BA preferred.
  • Commitment to diversity. All applicants must have demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff. The applicant must be able to demonstrate how their experience with these factors relates to successfully achieving the goals of the position.
Desirable Qualifications
  • The ability to address the needs of diverse and underrepresented students.
  • Experience in tutoring.
  • Experience with adult learners in a community college setting.
Salary Range

Short-Term Hourly TE A: $17/hour salary schedule information.
