Job summary

Relay Resources is seeking a Production Supervisor for a short-term contract in Portland, OR. Lead, schedule, and oversee the work of all assigned team members, ensure quality and efficiency, and maintain SOPs for contracted production.

Requirements include prior supervisory experience in production or warehouse, ability to work the 3:00 PM–11:30 PM swing shift, reliable attendance and transportation; forklift certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, schedule, and oversee the work of all assigned team members.
  • Ensure work quality and efficiency during ongoing daily production.
  • Collaborate with leadership to support streamlined and efficient production.
  • Ensure clear and accurate SOPs for all assigned contract(s).
  • Provide backup for team absences.
  • Create and implement assembly management tools and training.
  • Coordinate staffing for project time studies and maintain records.
  • Maintain up-to-date information about employees' accommodations and safety needs.
  • Set up and close out projects in inventory management software (Nulogy).
  • Maintain inventory in both physical and software records.
  • Coordinate quality inspections prior to shipment with SCS leadership.
  • Assist with day-to-day shipping and receiving as appropriate.
  • Coordinate pre-production setup and assist with material unloading and shipping readiness.
  • Communicate production successes and concerns to customer service and operations.
  • Perform regular quality control and root-cause analysis to resolve issues.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Production Supervision –
  • Lead, schedule, and oversee the work of all assigned team members.
  • Ensure the work quality and efficiency during ongoing daily production.
  • Collaborate with SCS leadership to support streamlined and efficient production.
  • In collaboration with SCS leadership, ensure clear and accurate SOP’s for all assigned contract(s).
  • Ensure assigned staff have the correct SOP(s) for their work.
  • Provide backup for team absences.
  • Create and implement assembly management tools such as pre- and post- checklists, ensuring the assembly team is trained to their role expectations.
  • Create and oversee employee training and support that nurtures productivity and resource conservation.
  • Coordinate staffing to conduct project time studies as requested, offering clear, accurate measured results.
  • Maintain up to date information about each employee’s accommodations, skillsets, language requirements, safety, and other workplaces needs, proactively.
  • Set up and close out project in inventory management software (Nulogy).
  • Maintain inventory management physically and in the inventory management software (Nulogy).
  • In partnership and collaboration with the SCS Manager, coordinate timely 3 rd party product quality inspections prior to shipment.
  • In collaboration with the Warehouse Supervisor, ensure efficient day-to-day shipping and receiving as appropriate to the contract.
2. Production Support –
  • Coordinate and assist with pre-production set up and support efficiencies continuously.
  • Coordinate and assist with unloading materials and finished product preparation for shipping as directed by supervisor.
  • Use a proactive and practical approach to ensure customers and the SCS leadership team are well informed as appropriate.
  • Communicate assembly successes and concerns to the customer service team and operations manager as they arise.
3. Performance Measuring & Problem Solving –
  • Ensure assembly is performed and workflow quality control measures are implemented.
  • Resolve assembly concerns by reviewing information, investigating issues, identifying solutions, and recommending action to the operations manager.
  • Use a “root cause analysis” tool to correct quality concerns noted during and after assembly.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and/or monthly meetings with the assembly team as appropriate.
4. Other duties as assigned
  • Additional tasks as assigned, within the scope of the role, team, and contract.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Prior supervisory experience in production, warehouse, assembly, or similar environment(s).
  • Experience working with a diverse work force, including adults with disabilities.
  • Ability to pass drug screening and criminal history background check, and/or fingerprinting as appropriate at any time during employment
  • Reliable and consistent attendance
  • Reliable transportation
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5 or more years’ experience in production assembly.
  • 5 or more years’ experience supervising others in an assembly or production environment.
  • Certified forklift operator
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of production and assembly.

Knowledge of basic safety practices in production environments.

Skilled in efficient production.

Skilled in regular use of personal protective equipment in production.

Ability to assemble consistently at quality standards consistently.

Ability to safely operate a forklift.

Ability to walk or stand 75% of the time.

Ability to model and act within Relay’s standards, values, and expectations at all times.

SCOPE & ACCOUNTABILITY

Performs duties both independently and collaboratively as directed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Ability to work with moderate supervision and some independent decision making.
