Job summary

Curtin Maritime in Long Beach, CA, is seeking a Port Engineer (Fleet/Shipyard Superintendent) to support vessel engineers, implement engineering policies, and coordinate drydockings. The role requires a minimum of five years in engineering on tugboats or similar mechanical work, strong administrative and computer skills, and TWIC card.

Travel 4 weeks on / 4 weeks off is expected. You will work with the Senior Port Engineer to assign tasks, manage budgets, and ensure Helm Connect records are up

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of related engineering experience on tugboats or similar mechanical work.
• TWIC Card
• Hands-on mechanical skills and strong computer/administrative skills.
• Experience managing vessel drydockings and supervising engineers.

Responsibilities

• Assist Senior Port Engineer with Vessel Engineers and shoreside support staff.
• Support implementation of Engineering policies and procedures.
• Purchasing related to normal vessel operations and liaising with purchasing.
• Enforce Helm Connect related to engineering tasks and ensure data is up to date.
• Coordinate task assignment with Senior Port Engineer and supervise vessel engineers.
• Attend vessel drydock periods and report progress and budgets.
• Assist in mobilization and outfitting for long-term or specialty jobs.
• Participate in development and training of Engineering staff.
