Job summary

tarte cosmetics in New York City is seeking a hands-on Shopify Developer to build storefronts and custom experiences using Liquid, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. You will collaborate across engineering, design, product, merchandising, and marketing to translate business needs into practical, scalable ecommerce features.

This hybrid role requires at least five years of Shopify development, plus experience with Online Store 2.0, APIs, and performance optimization.

Qualifications

• 5+ years Shopify development experience, ideally in a DTC brand
• Proficiency in Liquid, HTML5, CSS/SCSS and modern JavaScript
• Experience with Online Store 2.0, metafields, and theme customization
• Ability to build reusable frontend components and integrate third‑party services
• Experience with Git, code reviews, and release workflows
• Strong problem‑solving and cross-functional communication skills

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain custom Shopify themes, templates, sections, and components
• Own features from requirements through testing and release
• Develop promotions, bundles, and checkout experiences
• Support on-site search, filtering, and product discovery enhancements
• Improve site performance, accessibility, and storefront speed
• Integrate third‑party apps and Shopify APIs
• Participate in testing, code reviews, and deployments
• Explore AI-powered development tools to improve productivity
