Job summary

Overview

The Shop Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing natural gas compression equipment. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality. The Shop Technician will work closely with the Shop Manager and other team members to ensure that all equipment is functioning efficiently and safely.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform job activities in a manner consistent with Kodiak’s procedures, protocols, goals and objectives.
• Conduct regular inspections of equipment to identify potential problems and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities, including work orders, parts used, and time spent on each task.
• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
• Participate in safety training and meetings.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on natural gas compression equipment, including compressors, engines, and related systems.
• Work closely with other shop technicians and the Shop Manager to address equipment issues and improve operational efficiency.
• Ensure all repairs and maintenance tasks are performed to the highest quality standards and in accordance with manufacturer specifications.

Education & Certifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in mechanical, electrical, or a related field preferred.

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in maintenance and repair of natural gas compression equipment or similar mechanical systems.

Skills & Abilities

• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.

Physical Demands

• Requires operation of heavy equipment.
• Requires employee to stand for up to 75% of the time.
• Requires employee to climb ladders or stairs to inspect, repair, and paint equipment.
• Must be able to frequently lift at least 10 pounds and infrequently lift more than 50 pounds.
• High noise environment (>85dBA) will occur with ear protection.
• Potential, controlled exposure to hazardous chemicals.
• Requires work in outdoor conditions, including extreme heat and extreme cold.
• Requires moving and maintaining self in different positions—stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
• Must wear all required PPE, including fire‑retardant clothing, hard hats, face shields, hearing protection, safety glasses, and steel‑toed boots.
• Requires employee to frequently type and use computer and other office equipment such as a copier, printer, calendar, telephone, etc.
