Job summary

THE ROLE

The Shop Technician Level 1 will be responsible for evaluating and repairing submersible wastewater pumps (Flygt) at branch locations. This role includes mechanical and electrical troubleshooting. Product specific training will be provided. May interact with customers.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Evaluate, repair, and conduct mechanical and electrical testing of submersible wastewater pumps
  • Operating industrial equipment in a shop environment such as forklift, overhead cranes, etc.
  • Working with various Company provided hand and power tools
  • Accurate record keeping inside Xylem’s work-order management system
  • Create and maintain a safe and organized working environment and culture within the organization
  • Take care of company property

  • Must be able to function in a team environment
  • Usually works with direct supervision but can work independently if needed
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
  • Some travel required (overnight stays, away from home)

Education Requirements
  • HS diploma or equivalent

DAY IN THE LIFE

In this role, the working environment is an industrial shop setting where use of PPE is required. May also include exposure to hazardous material and loud noises. The physical demands may include but not limited to, standing and lifting to 50 lbs. In addition, this role may require overtime, and travel may be needed for training sessions.
