Ziegler CAT in Fort Dodge, IA, seeks a Diesel Technician to service Caterpillar heavy construction equipment at our Fort Dodge facility. Hours: 8:30am - 5pm. The position offers full-time hours with comprehensive benefits and opportunities for training and career development.

Starting wage range is $27.00 to $45.00 per hour, with pay adjustments based on skills, experience, and location. Benefits include health, dental, vision and life insurance; PTO; holidays; 401(k); HSA; disability coverages;

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of shop mechanic experience.
• 2+ years of diesel engine/equipment repair experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of hydraulics, transmissions, undercarriage, track systems, components, electrical, and fuel systems; Caterpillar experience is a plus but not required.
• Ability to write and communicate effectively with supervisors, customers and team members.
• Own mechanic tool set and ability to document work orders.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses and repairs Caterpillar equipment including heavy construction machinery.
• Document work orders in a timely manner to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Work safely at all times following company policies and standards.
• Collaborate with other technicians regarding troubleshooting repairs.

The pay range for this position is $27.00 to $45.00

Starting wage is dependent on skills, experience, education and location. Pay range may vary by 10% depending upon the applicant’s location. Along with competitive pay, full time positions are benefits eligible which includes:

Responsibilities:

• Diagnoses and repairs Caterpillar equipment including compactors, excavators, loaders, dozers, and other heavy construction equipment, compact equipment, aerial equipment and paving equipment
• Document work orders in a complete and timely manner to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction
• Work safely at all times, following company policies, procedures and standards
• Work collaboratively and assist other technicians as needed regarding troubleshooting repairs
• Participate in ongoing training to enhance mechanical skills and grow product knowledge

Qualifications:

• and 2 years of comparable shop mechanicexperience
• 2+ years of relevantdiesel engine/equipment repair experience is preferred
• Working knowledge of hydraulics, transmissions, undercarriage, track systems, components, electrical, and fuel systems; working on Caterpillar is a plus but not required
• Ability to write and communicate effectively and interact with supervisors, customers and team members
• Basic computer skills to document work orders and utilize online diagnostic systems
• Own mechanic tool set
• Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment
• This role is deemed safety sensitive and requires the ability to successfully complete a pre-employment drug test

Minimum Physical Requirements:

• Push/pull up to 50 lbs
• Lift/carry up to 60 lbs
• Lift bulky objects
• Standing, walking, using hands, talking, hearing, neck rotation, trunk rotation, stair climbing, ladder climbing, repetitive bending, kneeling, sustained squat, forward reaching, overhead reaching, supine overhead reaching, crawling, bin lift, high steps, fingering/grasping – able to use bolt box.
• Working Conditions may be indoor and/or outdoor. Noise level may be loud at times.
