Job summary

SERVPRO of Milwaukee North is seeking a Shop Manager to coordinate the fleet, equipment, and supplies for round-the-clock emergency response. You will ensure safe vehicles, fully functional gear, and timely replenishment to support field technicians.

The role requires a proactive, fix-it attitude, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to manage a busy warehouse. Candidates should have relevant warehouse or facility maintenance experience and ideally forklift certification.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years in warehouse management, fleet coordination, or facility maintenance.
  • Mechanical aptitude to repair small engines or equipment.
  • Proficiency with inventory software, Excel, and email.
  • Forklift certification preferred or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

  • Fleet Management: oversee vehicle fleet and maintenance scheduling.
  • Maintenance Scheduling: plan preventative maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Inspections: conduct weekly vehicle inspections for safety and readiness.
  • Coordination: liaise with mechanics and dealerships for major repairs.
  • Minor Repairs: perform in-house basic maintenance to reduce costs.
  • Testing & Cleaning: inspect and test restoration equipment after job sites.
  • Repairs: troubleshoot and fix broken equipment and parts.
  • Asset Tracking: manage check-in/check-out to prevent loss.
  • Safety Compliance: enforce PPE usage and OSHA safety standards.
  • Stock Management: monitor consumables and order supplies.
  • Procurement: place orders and manage stock replenishment.
  • Job Staging: ensure ready-kits are prepared for rapid deployment.
  • Housekeeping: maintain clean and safe warehouse floors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fleet Management
  • Maintenance Scheduling: Track and schedule preventative maintenance (oil changes, tires, brakes) for the entire company fleet to minimize downtime.
  • Inspections: Conduct weekly vehicle inspections to ensure trucks are clean, safe, and stocked with standard emergency kits and proper registration/insurance documentation.
  • Coordination: Act as the primary liaison with local mechanics and dealerships for major repairs; manage fuel cards and GPS tracking systems.
  • Minor Repairs: Perform minor vehicle maintenance in-house (e.g., bulb replacements, fluid top-offs, wiper blades) to save costs.
  • Testing & Cleaning: Inspect, clean, and test all restoration equipment (dehumidifiers, air movers, HEPA scrubbers, extractors) upon return from job sites.
  • Repairs: Troubleshoot and repair broken equipment (e.g., replacing power cords, switches, filters, and pumps).
  • Asset Tracking: Manage the check-in/check-out process to minimize equipment loss and ensure accountability using our inventory tracking system.
  • Safety Compliance: Tag out unsafe equipment immediately and ensure all electrical tools meet OSHA safety standards (e.g., PAT testing).
  • Stock Management: Monitor inventory levels of critical consumables (chemicals, poly sheeting, tape, PPE, antimicrobial agents).
  • Procurement: Place orders with vendors to replenish stock, ensuring best pricing and preventing shortages during high-volume storm events.
  • Job Staging: Ensure "ready-kits" and consumable bins are pre-packed and staged for rapid deployment by emergency crews.
  • Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse floor, loading dock, and parking lot.
  • Waste Disposal: Manage the proper disposal of job site debris, hazardous materials, and general waste.
  • Health & Safety: Serve as the shop Safety Officer, enforcing PPE usage and safe lifting protocols within the warehouse.
  • Exterior Facility Maintenance: Maintain the general appearance and functionality of the exterior.
Qualifications
  • Experience: 2+ years in warehouse management, fleet coordination, or facility maintenance. Prior experience in the Restoration or Construction industry is highly preferred.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Proven ability to repair small engines, electrical appliances, or general machinery.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with computers, specifically inventory management software, Microsoft Excel, and email.
  • Certifications: Forklift certification is preferred (or willingness to obtain). IICRC certifications (WRT/FSRT) are a bonus.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50-75 lbs regularly, stand for long periods, and tolerate warehouse environments (heat/cold).
  • Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Success Metrics (KPIs)
  • Equipment Uptime: 95% of total equipment inventory is clean, functional, and ready to rent at all times.
  • Fleet Reliability: Zero missed jobs due to preventable vehicle breakdowns.
  • Inventory Accuracy: Monthly inventory counts match system records within a 5% variance.
