Redline Precision Group is seeking a Shop Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of the machine and pump repair shop, owning throughput, quality, scheduling, procurement, and team development.

  • Review margins and operating expenses; pursue opportunities to improve profitability.

Description

The Shop Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of Redline Precision Group's machine and pump repair shop. This position owns shop throughput, quality, scheduling, procurement, and the performance and development of the shop team. The Shop Manager works alongside ownership on financial performance of the branch, with the expectation of assuming full profit and loss responsibility as the position matures.

This is a working leadership role. The Shop Manager is expected to be present on the floor, engaged with the work, and capable of speaking to both the technical and commercial sides of every job in the shop.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Daily Operations
  • Direct daily shop activity, including job prioritization, work assignment, and scheduling to meet customer commitments.
  • Maintain visibility on the status of every active job and communicate schedule changes to customers and ownership before they become problems.
  • Manage shop capacity and workflow across machining and pump repair work.
  • Maintain equipment, tooling, and facility in safe and serviceable condition, including preventive maintenance on shop machinery.
Team Management
  • Supervise, schedule, and develop shop personnel.
  • Set performance expectations, provide direct feedback, and address performance issues promptly.
  • Participate in hiring decisions for shop positions.
  • Enforce safety practices and maintain a culture where safety concerns are raised without hesitation.
Quality Control
  • Own quality control for all work leaving the shop.
  • Establish and maintain inspection practices appropriate to the work, including dimensional verification on machined components and functional testing on repaired pumps.
  • Maintain documentation of inspection results and corrective actions.
  • Investigate quality escapes, determine root cause, and implement corrective measures.
Procurement
  • Source and purchase raw material, components, tooling, and consumables required for shop operations.
  • Obtain competitive quotes on significant purchases and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors.
  • Manage inventory levels to support throughput without excessive carrying cost.
  • Verify receipt of purchased goods against purchase orders and reconcile discrepancies with vendors.
Invoicing & Administration
  • Draft customer invoices for completed work, ensuring labor, material, and services are accurately captured. Final invoice approval rests with ownership.
  • Maintain accurate job records, including time, material usage, and job costing.
  • Support accounts receivable follow-up as directed.
  • Assist in preparing quotes and estimates for shop work.
Financial Performance
  • Work jointly with ownership on branch profit and loss, including review of job costing, margin performance, and operating expense.
  • Identify opportunities to improve margin through pricing, efficiency, sourcing, or scheduling.
  • Assume independent profit and loss responsibility for the branch as experience and demonstrated performance warrant.
Requirements
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in oilfield, refinery, or industrial service markets.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems, including ISO 9001.
  • Experience with job costing and estimating in a shop environment.
  • Prior profit and loss responsibility.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work on a shop floor for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to work in an environment with exposure to noise, dust, and machinery.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
