Job summary

Express Employment Professionals - Cincinnati East is seeking an experienced Shop Manager to oversee a busy welding and fabrication shop in Fredericksburg, VA. You will direct daily operations, manage production schedules, and coordinate with customers, contractors, vendors, and suppliers to meet project deadlines.

The role requires at least 5 years in welding/fabrication, 3 years of supervisory experience, strong reading of blueprints, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and job-tracking

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical training or certifications preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in welding, fabrication, manufacturing, or industrial operations.
• Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or management experience.
• Strong understanding of MIG, TIG, stick welding, fabrication processes, and structural steel.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and technical specifications.
• Experience managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and job tracking systems.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem solving abilities.

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and hands-on Shop Manager to oversee daily operations of a busy welding and fabrication shop.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily shop operations, production schedules, and project timelines.
• Plan, organize, and prioritize fabrication and welding workloads and maximize efficiency.
• Monitor project progress to ensure deadlines and quality standards are met.
• Coordinate with customers, contractors, vendors, and suppliers regarding project requirements and delivery schedules.
• Manage shop inventory, materials, equipment, and tooling needs.
• Review blueprints, drawings, specifications, and project requirements. In addition, is responsible for:
• Team Leadership
• Quality Control
• Safety & Compliance
• Customer & Business Support

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required; technical training or certifications preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work in a fabrication shop environment.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and perform inspections throughout the facility.
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work around welding equipment, overhead cranes, and industrial machinery.
