Job description

Job Title: Shop Manager

Description:

As a Shop Maintenance Manager, you will oversee comprehensive maintenance services for various company vehicles, including buses, vans, and service vehicles. Your responsibilities include collaborating with the dispatch office and terminal manager to schedule repairs and services, leading the maintenance team in handling both scheduled and unscheduled repairs, and diagnosing and repairing Class 8 Tractors and tank tailers (Liquid and Dry).

You should have in-depth knowledge of multiple OEM drivetrains and systems, familiarity with maintenance tracking systems (preferably TMT), and adherence to Quantix's maintenance SOPs. Additionally, you'll track and maintain inventory levels monthly and quarterly, ensuring parts and consumables are aligned with usage.

Responsibilities:

1. Utilize maintenance tracking systems to complete work orders and ensure compliance with scheduled services, opening and closing RO/POs timely.
2. Create strategies to assign daily/weekly tasks to shop technicians.
3. Ensure accuracy of Repair Orders reflecting labor and parts usage.
4. Perform scheduled PM maintenance operations, including lubrication, fluid changes, brake adjustments, and tire rotations.
5. Plan and execute unscheduled maintenance, such as DVIR repairs.
6. Provide ongoing training and support to technicians.
7. Access high areas using ladders and elevation equipment for repairs and maintenance.
8. Respond to emergency conditions, which may include after-hours or weekend work.
9. Document repairs and parts thoroughly on work orders.
10. Maintain tools and work environment in a neat and safe condition.
11. Follow all safety protocols related to vehicle maintenance.
12. Comply with EPA regulations on toxic waste disposal and OSHA standards.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 7 years’ experience as a mechanic in a trucking environment or equivalent education and experience.
• Prior shop management experience preferred.
• Positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
• Own your hand tools for regular maintenance tasks.
• Valid State Driver's License with a clean driving record.
• Knowledge of tools, procedures, and safety rules for maintenance and repair of gasoline, diesel, and alternative-powered vehicles.
• Operational knowledge of diesel engines, shop equipment, and diagnostic tools.
• Ability to inspect equipment and diagnose mechanical issues.
• Must be able to drive company vehicles, with verification of license and driving record.
• Background check and drug screening required prior to employment.
