Job summary

Trinity Industries is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor to oversee railcar maintenance, shop coordination and asset data, ensuring compliance with AAR/DOT/FRA and environmental regulations.

You will lead coordinators, develop SOPs, collaborate with clients to plan preventive maintenance, manage budgets and provide KPI-driven insights.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in logistics/supply chain management preferred or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in shop, maintenance, and rail operations.
• Vendor/client relationship management experience preferred.
• ERP/Rail TMS and SAP experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance, shop and asset data coordinators; onboard, train and manage per RSI standards.
• Provide leadership for staff coordinators and ensure SOPs are followed.
• Create and maintain SOPs for Fleet Maintenance and related processes.

Description

The Fleet Maintenance Supervisor is a key contact as it relates to their railcar asset data and equipment maintenance needs and provides management and leadership to direct reports in the areas of maintenance, shop and asset data coordination. The primary objective is to maintain up to date railcar asset, mechanical, lease and rider information and manage the railcar repair and maintenance shopping events quickly, economically, and efficiently to minimize out of service time and provide value to our client. This role is also responsible for ensuring compliance with all AAR/DOT/FRA and other applicable environmental, Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations.

What you'll do:

• Oversee maintenance, shop and asset data coordinator(s); onboard, train and ongoing management aligned with RSI standards.
• Provide leadership for the performance of staff coordinators.
• Create and maintain SOPs for Fleet Maintenance and applicable Company processes.
• Ensure Company Standards are achieved in all areas of maintenance and shop coordination.
• Works in partnership with clients to establish annual maintenance requirements (programs).
• Provides reports related to maintenance forecast and budget information.
• Collaborate with client and car owners to ensure shopping instructions are accurate and complete.
• Create bills of lading and/or diversion requests to move the railcar(s) from client facility to home shops.
• Select repair shops and mobile repair units based on price, location, type or repair, and availability (currently with customer.)
• Organize, update, and maintain shop status reports and distribute as requested.
• Monitor and maintain relationships with clients, repair shops, and car owners.
• Expedite the established annual maintenance requirements (programs) based on client requirements to ensure deadlines are met. Participate in client-required meetings on this topic as needed.
• Assist with OTMA requests required by the Federal Railroad Administration as needed in conjunction with regulatory requirements.
• Create, collaborate, and assist in providing updated KPI’s, as well as suggestions for improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in logistics supply chain management preferred, and or in a related field equivalent to logistics or business.
• 3-5 years prior experience in the shop, maintenance, and rail operation industry.
• Vendor/Client relationship management experience preferred.
• System savvy (prior ERP experience or Rail TMS/SAP experience highly preferred.)
• Knowledge of safety regulations from AAR, OSHA, DOT.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to prioritize tasks to ensure completion in a timely manner.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, independently and collaboratively with a team.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (strong excel knowledge required), Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and Zoom.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and passport.
