Job summary

Phoenix Fabricators and Erectors, LLC, founded in 1986 and headquartered in Avon, Indiana, is seeking a Welder/Fabricator FCAW to join our skilled fabrication team. This role offers hands-on welding and metalworking on challenging projects across the region.

You will read basic blueprints, interpret measurements, operate oxy/acetylene torches, and coordinate with welders and shop supervisors to meet production goals while maintaining safety standards and a clean work area.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience operating beveling or cutting machinery in a steel fabrication environment preferred.
• Ability to read a tape measure and interpret basic blueprints.
• Comfortable working in a physically demanding, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Use oxy/acetylene torches to bevel and prepare steel plate edges.
• Interpret drawings, templates, and instructions to ensure precise cuts and angles.
• Inspect workpieces for quality and accuracy throughout the beveling process.
• Operate overhead cranes and rigging equipment to move steel plates safely.
• Perform minor maintenance on beveling machines to ensure optimal performance.
• Work in coordination with welders, fitters, and shop supervisors to meet production goals.
• Follow all safety procedures and use proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Position Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience operating beveling or cutting machinery in a steel fabrication environment preferred
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
• Ability to read a tape measure and interpret basic blueprints
• Comfortable working in a physically demanding, fast-paced environment
• Able to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
• Reliable transportation and strong work ethic
• Familiarity with Oxy/Acetylene torches
• Familiarity with safe rigging techniques and overhead crane usage a plus
