Job summary

Otis College of Art and Design seeks Technical Support Staff to ensure safety and technical advancement within our maker community. The role conducts demonstrations, supports students and staff, and maintains shop safety and operations.

Qualifications

• BFA degree in a related field is required and one year of work-related experience, preferably in an academic shop/lab/studio environment.
• CPR and First Aid certification are required by the position.

Responsibilities

• Conducts standardized and scheduled shop/lab/studio safety and technical demonstrations with students, faculty and staff.
• Assists and advises students on the production of their projects, including methods, materials and tool use to complete projects safely.
• Attends departmental meetings, trainings and workshops to stay current on policies and procedures related to the shop/lab/studio and college.
• Will adhere to OSHA standards and best practices relevant to the position.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
