Job description

Position Purpose

The Shop Helper is responsible for ensuring the shop is clean, orderly, and free of debris.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Maintain the Service Shop and parking lot in a neat, organized manner, free of debris and fluid leaks.
2. Clean the shop floor as needed.
3. Keep waste cans emptied and haul bulky waste items to the dumpster on scheduled days and as needed.
4. Drain fluid containers as needed.
5. Check, empty, and clean all coolant and oil drains and dispose of used filters.
6. Clean and organize the compressor room and wipe down floors.
7. Sweep and clean the alignment rack and pit area.
8. Assist in moving disabled vehicles in or around the Service Department.
9. Assist Technicians with removal of old parts from stalls.
10. Clean and organize the tire room, remove old tires and trash, and wipe down machines.
11. Run the floor scrubber through the main shop area.
12. Complete all work according to applicable safety requirements and published procedures.
13. Provide administrative assistance as necessary and perform other tasks as assigned by management.
14. Follow the assigned work schedule, arrive before the scheduled start time, and be engaged at your work station by that time.
15. Comply with all safety rules and use all appropriate safety and personal protection equipment.
16. Immediately report any situation or condition that jeopardizes safety, welfare, or the integrity of the dealership, employees, or customers to management.
17. Follow the established dress code policy at all times.
18. Safeguard customer and dealer information as per policy.
19. Exemplify organizational culture and hold others accountable for doing the same.
20. Maintain and wear the uniform in a clean and professional manner at all times.
21. Complete all assigned or requested tasks appropriately.
22. Perform other related duties as assigned.
23. Keep an accurate time record using the company's time clock, noting start and end times of shifts and meal periods.
