Position Purpose
The Shop Helper is responsible for ensuring the shop is clean, orderly, and free of debris.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain the Service Shop and parking lot in a neat, organized manner, free of debris and fluid leaks.
- Clean the shop floor as needed.
- Keep waste cans emptied and haul bulky waste items to the dumpster on scheduled days and as needed.
- Drain fluid containers as needed.
- Check, empty, and clean all coolant and oil drains and dispose of used filters.
- Clean and organize the compressor room and wipe down floors.
- Sweep and clean the alignment rack and pit area.
- Assist in moving disabled vehicles in or around the Service Department.
- Assist Technicians with removal of old parts from stalls.
- Clean and organize the tire room, remove old tires and trash, and wipe down machines.
- Run the floor scrubber through the main shop area.
- Complete all work according to applicable safety requirements and published procedures.
- Provide administrative assistance as necessary and perform other tasks as assigned by management.
- Follow the assigned work schedule, arrive before the scheduled start time, and be engaged at your work station by that time.
- Comply with all safety rules and use all appropriate safety and personal protection equipment.
- Immediately report any situation or condition that jeopardizes safety, welfare, or the integrity of the dealership, employees, or customers to management.
- Follow the established dress code policy at all times.
- Safeguard customer and dealer information as per policy.
- Exemplify organizational culture and hold others accountable for doing the same.
- Maintain and wear the uniform in a clean and professional manner at all times.
- Complete all assigned or requested tasks appropriately.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Keep an accurate time record using the company's time clock, noting start and end times of shifts and meal periods.
