Job summary

Axis Energy Services is seeking a Shop Hand to assist with cleaning, maintaining and rebuilding equipment in our Gainesville, TX facility. The role includes moving materials, performing basic mechanical/electrical maintenance, and ensuring a tidy shop and yard.

Responsibilities include loading/unloading, fabricating assistance, parts delivery, and operating a forklift. Candidates should have a High School Diploma or GED, English fluency, and basic computer skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Must communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.
• Basic computer proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Assist with mechanical/electrical aspects as required.
• Conduct general repairs for reliability of equipment.
• Move and load materials and equipment safely around the facility.
• Assist in cleaning the shop and yard, retrieving parts and tools.
• May install and assist with general repair and maintenance work as needed.
• Deliver and pick up parts, potentially pulling a trailer.
• Operate forklift and other material-handling equipment.
• Support Operations Supervisor with assigned duties.

Description

The Shop Hand assists with safely and efficiently cleaning, maintaining and rebuilding company equipment, and maintaining a clean and organized shop and yard. Duties may include but not be limited to, movement and loading of materials and equipment throughout the facility, performing general mechanical and electrical maintenance of machines, tools and/or equipment.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Assisting with the mechanical and electrical components according to requirements.
• Conducting general repairs aiming for maximum reliability.
• Works with various products such as service equipment, reading detailed instructions to ensure products are created efficiently and correctly.
• Assists with the loading and unloading of supplies and equipment.
• Assist in cleaning the shop area, painting, and retrieving parts and tools.
• May install and assist with general repair and maintenance work as needed.
• Deliver and pick-up parts which could include pulling a trailer.
• Operate a forklift and other material-handling equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Operations Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities)

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education.
• Must have valid, state-issued Class C driver license; CDL a plus.
• Prior work experience in a warehouse, including material-handling with heavy equipment; operation and maintenance a plus; forklift operator certified a plus.
• Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and written in English.
• Basic computer proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel.
• Basic writing, math, problem solving and organizational skills.
• Mobility, enter areas by the use of ladders or other access devices up to 15 ft.; ability to bend, stoop, twist, stand, squat, crawl and walk.
• Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs.
• Work is performed in all weather conditions.
• Ability to interact with others in a team environment.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks at once.
• Reliable telephone (cell phone) communication and transportation.
• Able to clear pre-employment drug and alcohol and job-relevant screens.
