Job summary

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of John Deere Agriculture Technicians.

• Communicate effectively with customers and team for excellent service.
• Maintain inventory, tools, and equipment in good condition.
• Keep work area safe, clean, and organized per safety rules.
• Support Service Manager in organizing quarterly safety meetings.
• Act as Service Manager in absence of supervisor.
• Approve release of equipment for delivery to customers.
• Provide feedback on performance for technicians and staff.
• Assist in tracking Product Improvement Programs.

Position Summary

As the Shop Foreman you\'ll lead a team of John Deere Agriculture Technicians and who share a passion for diesel mechanics and strive for excellent customer experience. We\'re seeking individuals who enjoy working independently as well as developing and coaching other technicians.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform setup, maintenance, and repair tasks for John Deere lawn and garden equipment.
• Participate in assessing repair orders with technicians and supporting repairs as needed.
• Provide guidance and aid in diagnosing machine problems for technicians and apprentices.
• Communicate effectively with customers and team members to ensure excellent customer service and experience.
• Foster positive and respectful interactions with customers and colleagues.
• Report all customer complaints to the Service Manager.
• Maintain the condition of inventory, tools, and equipment.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area and follow safety regulations.
• Support the Service Manager in organizing and conducting quarterly safety meetings.
• Take on the role of Service Manager in their absence.
• Approve the release of equipment for delivery to customers.
• Assist in providing performance feedback for service technicians and staff.
• Assist in tracking and scheduling Product Improvement Programs.
• Participate in Service EDUCATE Training programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area and follow safety regulations.
• Stay updated on John Deere and competitive equipment.

• Strong communication abilities, both verbal and written, to effectively convey information and insights.
• Flexibility to work seasonal hours as required by the demands of the role.
• 3+ years of experience in service repair with strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems relevant to turf equipment and small engines.
• Capability to execute basic repairs and maintenance using specialized tools and equipment, following Technical Manual procedures.
• Experience in team leadership and collaborative teamwork.
• Strong verbal and written communication skillswith team members and customers.
• Ability to use required working applications:Service Advisor, Microsoft Office applications, andother John Deere or business specific systems.
• Mustpossessan adequate toolset to perform job responsibilities.
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required.
• Valid driver\'s licenserequired.
• Ability to lift at least 75 lbs. repeatedly.
• Willingness to work Saturdays and extended hours during peak business season.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated track record of meeting service performance metrics preferred.
• Leading people or team members (preferably in a Service or Operations role).
• Familiarity with John Deere systems and products.
• Associate\'s Degree preferred.

Compensation

The following represents Valley Plains Equipment compensation estimation based on market data and placement of internal employees. This is a salary role with a starting base of $60,000 and going up to $70,000 based on experience. This role is also incentive eligible and is based on performance.
