Job summary

The Ag Division of Brandt Holdings in Hillsboro, ND seeks a Shop Foreman to lead John Deere technicians and diesel mechanics, driving outstanding customer experience. The role requires strong leadership, technical knowledge, and the ability to coach others in a busy shop environment.

As Shop Foreman, you will oversee repairs, mentor staff, coordinate with the Service Manager, and ensure safety, quality and efficiency in daily operations, including potential coverage of the Service Manager role

Qualifications

• 3+ years of people management experience.
• Familiarity with John Deere or competitive equipment and tech trends.
• Knowledge of business, financial and management practices.
• Excellent customer relationship skills and communication ability.
• Willingness to work seasonal hours as needed.
• 3+ years in service repair with strong diagnostic skills.
• Proficient in mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems for turf equipment.
• Ability to follow Technical Manual procedures.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of technicians and apprentices to perform repairs and maintenance.
• Assess repair orders with technicians and support needed repairs.
• Guide diagnosis of machine problems and provide troubleshooting support.
• Communicate with customers and team to ensure excellent service.
• Maintain inventory, tools and equipment; ensure safety standards.
• Support in organizing quarterly safety meetings and mentorship.
• Act as Service Manager in the absence of the Manager.
• Approve release of equipment for delivery to customers.
• Assist in tracking Product Improvement Programs and training.
• Stay updated on John Deere and competitive equipment.

Position Summary

As the Shop Foreman, you'll lead a team of John Deere Agriculture Technicians and who share a passion for diesl mechanics who strive for excellent customer experience. We're seeking individuals who enjoy working independently as well as developing and coaching other technicians.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform setup, maintenance, and repair tasks for John Deere lawn and garden equipment.
• Participate in assessing repair orders with technicians and supporting repairs as needed.
• Provide guidance and aid in diagnosing machine problems for technicians and apprentices.
• Communicate effectively with customers and team members to ensure excellent customer service and experience.
• Foster positive and respectful interactions with customers and colleagues.
• Report all customer complaints to the Service Manager.
• Maintain the condition of inventory, tools, and equipment.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area and follow safety regulations.
• Support the Service Manager in organizing and conducting quarterly safety meetings.

Qualifications

• 3+ Years of people management experience
• Familiarity with John Deere or competitive equipment, along with a solid understanding of technology and agronomic trends.
• Knowledge of business, financial, and management practices within related industries.
• Exceptional customer relationship skills, with a focus on building rapport and trust.
• Strong communication abilities, both verbal and written, to effectively convey information and insights.
• Flexibility to work seasonal hours as required by the demands of the role.
• 3+ years of experience in service repair with strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems relevant to turf equipment and small engines.
• Capability to execute basic repairs and maintenance using specialized tools and equipment, following Technical Manual procedures.
• Experience in team leadership and collaborative teamwork.
• Strong verbal and written communication skillswith team members and customers.
• Ability to use required working applications:Service Advisor, Microsoft Office applications, andother John Deere or business specific systems.
• Mustpossessan adequate toolset to perform job responsibilities.
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required.
• Valid driver's licenserequired.
• Ability to lift at least 75 lbs. repeatedly.
• Willingness to work Saturdays and extended hours during peak business season.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated track record of meeting service performance metrics preferred.
• Leading people or team members (preferably in a Service or Operations role).
• Familiarity with John Deere systems and products.
• Associate's Degree preferred.
