Job Summary
Fabrication Specialist/Belt Crew performs splicing procedures including vulcanization and mechanical on conveyor belts, troubleshooting conveyors, installing belts on conveyors, and training conveyor belts. This is a safety-sensitive position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Communicate with crew leader and site plant personnel accordingly.
- Adhere to all RGA and site policies, instructions, procedures, and safety guidelines in accordance with OSHA and MSHA regulations.
- Operate a commercial motor vehicle in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety regulations.
- Maintain work documentation including DOT logbooks, safety inspections, and HAZCOM Safety Data Sheets.
- Repair, splice, and vulcanize all types of conveyor belts, troubleshoot, install belts, and train others.
- Suggest improvements to work conditions and equipment use to increase efficiency.
- Report to shop foreman when not performing belt crew duties; other duties may include fabrication, welding, and housekeeping.
- Perform general housekeeping per OSHA regulations.
- Work efficiently, pay attention to detail, follow policies, and maintain regular attendance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Skills and Qualifications:
- Ability to perform duties successfully, including reasoning, communication, problem-solving, and leadership as needed.
- Timely work completion with attention to detail.
- Ability to obtain belt splicing certification within 180 days and pass required exams.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
- Valid driver's license with an insurable record.
- May need a commercial Driver's License.
Travel:
- Must be able to travel as required.
Physical Demands:
- Lift at least 100 lbs occasionally and frequently.
- Repetitive standing, climbing, stooping, crouching, reaching, walking, and bending.
- Work long hours.
- Occasionally sit.
- Talk and hear.
Work Environment:
- Inside and outside conditions, exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, weather, humidity, heights, vibration, chemicals, cold, heat, electrical shocks, radiation, and loud noise.
Must pass a hair follicle drug test upon hire.
