Job summary

CraneWorks is seeking a Shop Crane Technician in Houston to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain mobile crane equipment including All Terrain, Rough Terrain, and Boom Trucks. Experience with electrical and hydraulics is preferred; ability to work independently and follow OEM specifications.

Position requires a valid driver’s license, potential travel of 1–4 day intervals for field techs, and the ability to work 40–80 hours per week depending on needs. Equal Opportunity Employer.

• Demonstrates working knowledge of CANBUS, PAT, EKS, ECOS, LICCON, and Greer systems.

• Inspect, diagnose, repair and maintain various crane equipment including mobile cranes (All Terrain, Rough Terrain, Crawler Cranes, Boom Trucks, knuckle booms, bucket trucks).
• Read and understand operating manuals, parts manuals, blueprints and technical drawings.
• Test mechanical, electronic, electrical and hydraulic products and equipment after repair to ensure proper operation and OEM compliance.
• Prepare for jobs by checking parts and drawings for accuracy and completeness.
• Maintain safety compliance and proper documentation (reports, time sheets, work orders).
• Travel periodically for 1–4 day intervals for field techs; typical shop hours 40–50 per week; field techs 40–80 hours per week.

Job Summary

All Mechanics are responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair and maintenance of various crane equipment including mobile cranes (All Terrain, Rough Terrain, Crawler Cranes, Boom Trucks, knuckle booms, bucket trucks, etc.). Mechanic experience preferred with electrical and hydraulics.

Key Responsibilities

• A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Mobile Crane Mechanic/Technician that can operate and inspect cranes in order to diagnose defects.
• Demonstrates working knowledge of CANBUS, PAT, EKS, ECOS, LICCON, and Greer systems.
• Examines parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gauges.
• Reads and understands operating manuals, parts manuals, blueprints and technical drawings.
• Tests mechanical, electronic, electrical and hydraulic products and equipment after repair or modification to ensure proper operation and compliance with OEM specifications.
• Prepares for jobs by checking parts and drawings for accuracy and completeness.
• Capable of accomplishing tasks independently without direct supervision.
• Maintain conformity to safety requirements, manufacturer procedures, and other regulations.
• Properly fills out working reports, hour’s reports, time sheets, hour’s overviews, work orders, and expense reports.
• Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work overtime as well as on weekends is a plus. Travel is required periodically for 1 to 4‑day intervals for field techs. Our shop technicians work anywhere from 40 to 50 hours a week depending on immediate needs and our field technicians work anywhere from 40 to 80 hours a week depending on customer needs.
• Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record required for field technician positions.

Preferred Qualifications

History of working with different forms of mobile crane equipment, specifically Grove RT and TMS Cranes; Grove GMK European Cranes; Manitowoc, Liebherr, Terex, Palfinger, IMT, Cormach, National, Demag, Manitex, etc.
