Job summary

CraneWorks seeks a Shop Crane Technician to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain a variety of crane equipment including mobile cranes. Mechanical experience with electrical and hydraulic systems is preferred. A skills aptitude test will be required.

You will work under the Service department, report to the Service Manager, and may travel 1–4 day intervals for field techs. Hours range from 40–80 hours weekly for field staff, with shop techs usually 40–50 hours.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a Mobile Crane Mechanic/Technician.
• Knowledge of CANBUS, PAT, EKS, ECOS, LICCON, and Greer systems.
• Ability to read manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
• Tests repaired equipment to OEM specifications after service.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and diagnose cranes and perform repairs on mobile crane equipment.
• Operate and inspect cranes to diagnose defects.
• Read and interpret operating manuals, parts manuals, blueprints, and drawings.
• Test mechanical, electronic, electrical and hydraulic systems after repair to ensure proper operation.
• Prepare parts and drawings for jobs; verify accuracy.
• Document work hours, reports, and expense records accurately.
• Maintain safety and compliance with regulations and procedures.
• Provide exceptional customer service and communication.
• Travel 1–4 days for field tech work; overtime/weekends may be required.

Job Summary:

All Mechanics are responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair and maintenance of various crane equipment including mobile cranes (All Terrain, Rough Terrain, Crawler Cranes, Boom Trucks, knuckle booms, bucket trucks, etc.). Mechanic experience preferred with electrical and hydraulics.

Skills aptitude test will be required

Key Responsibilities:

• A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Mobile Crane Mechanic/Technician that can operate and inspect cranes in order to diagnose defects.
• Demonstrates working knowledge of CANBUS, PAT, EKS, ECOS, LICCON, and Greer systems.
• Examines parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gauges
• Reads and understands operating manuals, parts manuals, blueprints and technical drawings
• Tests mechanical, electronic, electrical and hydraulic products and equipment after repair or modification to ensure proper operation and compliance with OEM specifications
• Prepares for jobs by checking parts and drawings for accuracy and completeness
• Capable of accomplishing tasks independently without direct supervision
• Maintain conformity to safety requirements, manufacturer procedures, and other regulations
• Properly fills out working reports, hour’s reports, time sheets, hour’s overviews, work orders, and expense reports
• Exceptional customer service and communication skills
• Ability to work overtime as well as on weekends is a plus. Travel is required periodically for 1 to 4-day intervals for field techs. Our shop technicians work anywhere from 40 to 50 hours a week depending on immediate needs and our field technicians work anywhere from 40 to 80 hours a week depending on customer needs.
• Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record required for field technician positions

Preferred Qualifications:

History of working with different forms of mobile crane equipment, specifically Grove RT and TMS Cranes; Grove GMK European Cranes; Manitowoc, Liebherr, Terex, Palfinger, IMT, Cormach, National, Demag, Manitex, etc.
