HII Newport News Shipbuilding seeks a skilled Burner to join our shipyard team. You will make critical ship and module cuts using hand torches and track-driven equipment, ensuring precise alignment for installation of ship components and modules.

Ideal candidates have a burning background, metal fabrication or shipbuilding experience, and the ability to read blueprints. You must be able to work in extreme temperatures, heights, confined spaces, lift 50 lbs, and support varying shifts.

Qualifications

• Ability to work in extreme temperature environment.
• Ability to work at extreme heights or in very confined spaces.
• Must be able to kneel, squat, crawl, bend, stoop, and climb daily.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs and work shifts as production needs.
• Experience in burning with correct tooling and settings.

Responsabilités

• Operate hand torches, IK12, IK72, and Koike mod drive machines to produce cuts.
• Determine proper tooling for each job, including torch tip size and fuel flow.
• Interface with shipbuilders, other trades, and ship management for project success.
• Use bevel gauges, squares, and rulers to ensure precise machine setups.
• Work safely with high accuracy to produce final cuts.
