• Four years of experience using burning equipment on metal structures.
• Candidates will be required to pass a Burner qualification test.
• Operate hand torches and burning machines to produce high-quality cuts.
• Determine proper tooling for each job, including torch tip size and fuel flow settings.
• Interface with fellow shipbuilders, other trades, and ship management to ensure project success.
• Proficient in bevel gauges, squares, and rulers to establish precision machine setups.
• Work safely with a high degree of accuracy to produce final cuts.
• Use vibratory tools (grinders and needle guns).
• Experience working in a physically demanding environment (shipbuilding, steel fabrication, etc.).
• Air Carbon Arc Gouging.
• PPE training means general requirements, eye and face protection, head protection, foot protection, hand and body protection, hearing protection, and PFAS.

Chipton-Ross is seeking multiple Burners for a contract opportunity in Newport News, VA.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

Four years of experience using burning equipment on metal structures.

Candidates will be required to pass a Burner qualification test.

• Operate hand torches and burning machines to produce high-quality cuts
• Determine proper tooling for each job, including choice of torch tip size and fuel flow settings
• Interface with fellow shipbuilders, other trades, and ship management to ensure project success
• Proficient in the use of bevel gauges, squares, and rulers to establish precision machine setups
• Work safely with a high degree of accuracy to produce final cuts
• Use vibratory tools (grinders and needle guns).
• Experience working in a physically demanding environment (shipbuilding, steel fabrication, etc.).
• Air Carbon Arc Gouging.
