Job summary

Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding in Sturgeon Bay is seeking a Welding Foreman for the 1st shift, Monday through Friday, 6:30am–4:00pm. This leadership role oversees welding department activities across new ship construction, renovation, and maintenance projects, with on-site direction to ensure quality, safety, and timely delivery.

The Welding Foreman will manage up to 40 employees, coordinating with crews on shipboard structures, tanks, piping, and equipment.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of welding methods, structural fabrication, welding techniques, weld preparation and installation procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret shipbuilding drawings and related specifications.
• Experience with shipboard welding, fabrication, assembly, inspection, and installation processes.
• Experience in supervisory roles, including hiring, training, and directing work.
• Commitment to safety policies and OSHA/ISO standards.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret shipbuilding drawings, welding symbols, and specifications to determine material needs and work sequences.
• Plan and oversee welding, fabrication, assembly, alignment, and installation activities for shipboard structures and equipment.
• Coordinate workforce assignments, monitor schedules, and ensure quality and safety requirements are met.
• Plan overtime and work activities to meet project deadlines.
• Perform supervisory duties including interviewing, training, and performance evaluation.
