Job summary

100Hires, Inc. is seeking a Shipyard Structural Assembly Fitter to lay out and assemble structural steel per engineering specs and digital drawings. You will measure, mark, and prep with precision tools, grind, drill, ream, and assemble to required fit-up.

Working in a heavy industrial shipyard environment, you will verify alignment and tolerances, perform in-process quality checks, and coordinate with welders to complete assemblies safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1–3 years in structural fitting within shipyard, marine, heavy fabrication, or industrial manufacturing.
  • Strong blueprint and digital drawing interpretation skills.
  • Knowledge of structural layout, fit-up, and tolerances.
  • Basic construction math; proficiency with precision measuring tools.
  • Experience with stick welding for tack-up prior to final weld-out.
  • Hands-on use of grinders, drills, and layout tools.
  • Mechanical aptitude with a strong safety focus.

  • Operate fabrication equipment safely; follow safety and quality procedures.
  • Coordinate with welders and other trades to finish assemblies.
